World Water Day: Call for ownership in protecting water resources by restoring water catchments (The New Times - Friday, 29 March 2019) -- The Water Week was organised by, among others, the Ministry of Environment, Water for Growth Rwanda, The Netherlands Embassy through SNV, and Hinga Weze that is funded by USAID and Feed the Future.World Water Day was marked on Friday March 22, 2019, with a call to everyone to play a role in protecting water resources mainly by controlling soil erosion, planting, and maintaining trees on water catchments. Celebrated under the theme ‘Leaving no one behind’, it reflects Sustainable Development Goal 6 (SDG 6) which aims to ensure the availability and sustainable management of water for all by 2030. TOXIC TRADE: Illicit Destruction of Africa’s Forests and Contamination of the US Market (AP News - Monday, 25 March 2019) -- A new report from the Environmental Investigation Agency documents how illegally extracted African timber emerges as “eco-friendly”-marketed products in America, deceiving unsuspecting US consumers.
